Bejitarizumu Dayo! ~ Randomness

HELLO!!!

Sooo I'm here to apologize for the lack of posts this month. I must highlight that I'm in my last semester at Uni and that we are slowly approaching the imminent end of this chapter! Phew. This translates to CRUNCH TIME, (in)finite STRESS, and a lot of Kleenex and cupcakes to alleviate this aforementioned stress. Needless to say this infant blog suffered some neglect, and I'm sorry, but yeah, I'll be fully committed once I'm done with school and "unemployed".

In the meantime...I've been re-obsessed with this Japanese video of 4 little girls (3 girls! one of them is a boy, can you guess which one?) promoting healthy eating and as you may have guessed from the title, Vegetarianism! Yes, Bejitarizumu! Read it out loud! Funny huh? Well not really vegetarianism, the company Triple-O wanted to promote eating veggies to kids (it's a play on words, vegetarian and rhythm.) But seriously, gotta love the Japanese for their creativity and catchy songs! It's so random and I love it! I attached the video with the better quality but there's another one with subtitles. It's like the Teletubbies meets the Power Puff Girls meets your nutritionist! Try to get the song out of your head. Come on, I dare you.

PS. It is now my dream to learn this dance. Sa-SAaaa!!
PSS. I love the facial expressions of the purple girl...I mean boy.

Translated lyrics:

Vegetables today
If you put them in a pot
with happy thoughts
It's Vegeta-rhythm

Mama with a menu
Papa at work
Everyone with a smile
It's Vegeta-rhythm

Cut them up, grill them, peel them
Simmer them, steam them, as they are - raw
It's Vegeta-rhythm

If you become sad
Put them in a pot
Everyone likes them
It's Vegeta-rhythm

I want to say
I love them
I like them a lot
It's Vegeta-rhythm

Turnips, potatoes, celery, parsley
Kabocha, tomatoes, everything together in a pot
Cut them up, grill them, peel them
Simmer them, steam them, as they are - raw
It's Vegeta-rhythm

Blaze Burgers - A New Classic

Where in Bahrain can you find the quirkiest milkshakes? Or a grilled cheese sandwich "brick" of a burger? Or the most succulent grilled chicken sandwich ever? Answer: Blaze Burgers. Ever since they opened their smokey greasy doors to the public, the public have been hungry for more.

You can find Blaze in the alleyways of the delicious block 338, just a few steps from the refinement of Lilou's and the pompous yuminess of Coco's (we'll get to that later.) Almost everyone is well acquainted with Blaze Burgers by now, but nonetheless I'll share with you my favorite order. Every time I try to change I just can't. I get the Grilled Chicken sandwich on wheat with Inter-state sauce. Chik-fil-a's got nothing on this! They have a myriad of other sauces too. My sister likes the Green Ranch option with her chicken sandwich.

If you're going for the burger, and you're particularly famished, order the "6abooga"...roughly translated, they call it the brick. Once a monthly special, this burger had such a high demand they decided to include it in their menu permanently. After having a few bites of this monstrosity you'll probably feel like you're on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! This greasy mess is actually very very delicious. The meat (succulent), the sauce (tangy and creamy), the veg (one expert says order it without lettuce; it's already big enough as it is. And don't kid yourself. Omitting the lettuce doesn't mean you're being any less healthy. You sign a deal with your own devil the minute you decide to order this.)

Forever a sweet tooth, I occasionally like to try the milkshakes...occasionally. A firm favorite will always be the Strawberry milkshake. But the other wacky flavors are also worth trying, namely the balaleet milkshake. I personally am not a fan of actual balaleet (see the Saffron review) BUT, as a milkshake, it was rather enjoyable.

For a fantastic burger, and yes, good value for money (this is not a franchise; its as fresh as fresh can get) head to Blaze Burgers...or call they do deliver.

Paris City Guide - Part 1

Oh hey there! I recently took a little trip to Paris and I can't wait to share all the pictures I took! Since there are so many I decided to split this post into several parts. I will also focus on some more food and culture aspects of the trip. So consider this a little tease.

AM: Patisserie at Laduree. Experimental art at Palais de Tokyo. A walk through the Tuileries.

PM: Exploring the Louvre; Mona Lisa, Napoleon Apartments etc. Quick shopping at the quirky boutiques of rue Cherche Midi. Dinner at Vesuvio. Chocolat chaud at Chez Francis.

More to come!
